PowerDirector video editing app

We’re always on the lookout for tools that make things a bit easier. And with this video editing app, PowerDirector, we’ve hit the jackpot. It’s so easy to use that even those of us with limited editing skills can create professional looking videos.

As we all know by now, video is where it’s at. A recent Hubspot infographic shows just how influential video content has become: 33% of all online activity is watching video, 75% of executives watch work-related videos on business websites at least once a week, and 90% of people say that video reviews of a product are helpful in the decision-making process.

Years ago, creating a nice slick video took time and investment; you needed a good quality video camera, pricey editing software and plenty of time. Now we’re using our smartphones to record video and apps like PowerDirector are making it easy to edit on the go and then share the video directly to social media platforms.

I use the premium version of PowerDirector for Android, which costs just EUR6. With this version I can do everything from basic editing (drag and drop video and photos into the video timeline), to adding text overlays, voice overs and music.

You can also use transitions between clips and there are plenty of different styles to choose from (free transitions are added regularly enough and there are also premium transitions). I haven’t used this option yet (although I’m itching to) but you can create a slow motion effect even if you haven’t recorded your video in slow mo.

Adding effects to your video is similar to adding filters to your Instagram photos. It’s a simple case of tapping your chosen options and seeing how your video looks.

What’s so handy is how easy it is then to share your finished video. You can upload your video directly to YouTube or Facebook or export the file to your phone for easy sharing via programs like Dropbox or WeTransfer.

What video editing software or apps do you use?
