How to stop being an egg on Twitter
It’s How To Tuesday here at ENNclick – that means a useful how-to you can use for yourself or share with a friend who isn’t quite as much of a social media rockstar as you are.
If you tweet, today’s how-to will show how to stop being an egg on Twitter and customise your profile with images. Leaving your profile with an egg icon means other tweeters will assume you’re an inactive or inept Twitter user.
Twitter is the best social media tool for listening to and reaching out to strangers. It’s fine if you prefer to stay in “listening” mode, using the network only to monitor what other people are saying, without jumping into the conversation. But do yourself a favour and stop being an egg – that’s the default image Twitter will assign to your face, unless you upload a picture of yourself or some other graphic.
Dropping the egg is easy. Twitter has done this gorgeous little video which demonstrates how to get rid of that default image and look like yourself, by uploading a profile image of your choosing. And if you want to go turbo, there’s even an instruction on how to put a lovely large (Recommended dimensions of 1252×626 pixels) image at the top of your Twitter homepage, and your own custom background (Twitter calls these “header” and “background” images), to give people a sense of your style.
Well done Ian Padgham on a fabulous animated video.
