Have you used LinkedIn mentions yet?

I was pleased to find the how-to video below from Profitecture on a feature introduced recently on LinkedIn: mentions. Try writing a status update on LinkedIn and mentioning one of your contacts or a company by name and LinkedIn will offer to make the name into a hotlink and alert the person that you have been talking about them.

The functionality I’m describing is not new to Facebook and Twitter users: mentioning or tagging someone in a status update is a well-worn means of drawing attention to yourself on those social networks. LinkedIn has been a bit late to the party but it’s good to see the feature finally being introduced. LinkedIn mentions can be a good way to bring you and your company to the attention of your contacts, but I don’t see it being widely used yet. Read more…
